Airport Approach & Threshold Lighting - Navigational Aids

Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPIs) are a type of navigational aid used by pilots during the final stages of landing an aircraft. They provide visual cues that indicate whether the aircraft is on the correct glide path to the runway. PAPIs are typically located on either side of the runway threshold and consist of a row of light units that illuminate sequentially from bottom to top. If the pilot sees only red lights, they are below the glide path; if they see only white lights, they are above it; and if they see a mix of both colors, then they are on track.

Approach and threshold lighting is used to help pilots line up with the runway for landing. These lights provide high-intensity illumination that can be seen in all weather conditions. Genesis Lamp offers a variety of approach and threshold lighting products, including precision approach path indicator units. These units have a two-color approach path from a wingbar arrangement with an acquisition range of 19 kilometers during normal weather conditions.

The lights marking the ends of the runway emit red light toward the runway to indicate the end of runway to a departing aircraft and emit green outward from the runway end to indicate the threshold to landing aircraft.
