The airport lighting par lamps are tungsten quartz halogen or xenon strobe flashlamps. The par sizes are Par 20, 30, 36, 38, 46, 56, 64. Lamp current for the halogen types is either 6.6 Ampere or 20.0 Ampere. The par 64 is used primarily in the VASI or rotating beacon fixtures. The par 56 is used for some of the older L-850, l-852 and 120 volt runway approach systems. The par 56 is also used for the MALSR and ALSF runway approach systems. These lamps are used in airfield runway approach, runway touchdown, runway centerline, VASI, PAPI, and stop and hold. These bulbs meet the FAA l-801, L-802, L-804, L-806, L-849, L-880 and l-881 requirements.
